My name is Anna Weigandt and in May of 2014 I will be graduating with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations. For the five years of my academic collegiate career, I was also a NCAA Division I track and field athlete for the University of Nebraska. Although that has limited my time in the working world, in return, it has helped me develop many talents and character skills I feel are very important for my future. Being able to manage both track and school is something that has turned me into a very hard worker in every aspect. I have lived in Nebraska all twenty-two years of my life and I am passionate about developing connections and experiences outside of the state. I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my public relations major. Being able to apply what I have learned while learning new and beneficial information is what I strive for. I hope to be able to show my skills in the work-force. In the posts below you will find numerous college assignments that I feel relate to public relations very well. Resume:
Campaigns class is the most important class within our college. The assignments and requirements give us each a change to fully prepare for what we will run into within the work-force. A group of us were required to create different events throughout the year for our client, Barry's Rooftop Bar & Grill. My portion of planning was for an annual beer pong event.
One of the many important jobs that is involved in public relations is coming up with different strategies and tactics while trying to advertise a certain company, person, or cause. There were were a lot of assignments where I had to creatively think of ways this could click with the public. Below is an example. Examples of PR Strategies & Tactics Assignments: The Marines: For my Public Relations Theory & Strategy class, we were split up into groups of four and were required to make a campaign for The Marines. Our objectives were to raise applications to the Marine Corps and create an attitude of 'heroism and bravery' surrounding the Marine Corps. My part of the project was to come up with strategies and tactics to make these objectives happen.
Although my major and concentrations are not focused on photography, I took a class while in college that I found very entertaining and fun. I learned a lot more than I expected throughout the eight week course. Below are some photographs I had taken for different assignments. Examples of Photography Assignments:
